We have received questions whether the course can be offered virtually. After much consideration, the steering committee determined that a virtual course will not offer the same quality of education. The pillar of the EEG/Epilepsy course at UH is the daily, interactive discussions of concepts being taught. Without the face-to-face interactions, the quality of education simply will not meet our expectation. Thank you for your understanding as we work through these challenging times.

Course Description
The EEG/Epilepsy/Clinical Physiology course at University Hospitals is an intensive, eight-week course designed to instruct in core competencies related to epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. The course is limited to 30 to 35 participants; sessions will be held at UH Cleveland Medical Center
The course begins with an introduction to basic EEG. Subsequent topics include adult and pediatric EEG interpretation, seizure semiology, sleep, anti-epileptic medications and women’s issues. Trainees are then given an overview of intra-operative monitoring.
Trainees are expected to attend the weekly Epilepsy Grand Rounds, Epilepsy Surgical Case Management Conferences, Neurology Grand Rounds and research meetings. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, the trainees will attend the EEG unknown, seizure semiology, evoked potential, and SEEG interpretation sessions presented by the fellows and moderated by Dr. Hans Lüders. In addition, there are daily routine EEG and extended EEG review sessions. All sessions are interactive.
The eight-week sessions are held twice a year, during February-March and July-August.

In order to participate in the two-month EEG/Epilepsy Course a B1/B2 visa is an acceptable visa for international applicants. Please ensure enough time by applying early if you will be in attendance on the work visa. There is no fee to take the course; however, you are responsible for your own accommodations. At the end of course, participants will receive a certificate of completion and a small number of individuals will be offered to join a one-year research scholar program in the Epilepsy Center.

Cancellation Policy
Please provide us with at least 1 month advance notice from the date of the course that you are unable to attend. If you are unable to attend a course, you will have to apply for the following course with the required documents.
Prof. Hans Lüders organized the first International Electroencephalography (EEG)/ Epilepsy course in Cleveland (Ohio, United States) in 1979. His vision was to impart a framework of basic knowledge in EEG and epilepsy. The course participants are assumed to have no prior knowledge of EEG or epilepsy.
