Dr. Sharma completed his residency and fellowship training at The University of Virginia. He is board certified in adult psychiatry as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Sharma served as Medical Director at FMRS Health Systems, Inc., a Community Mental Health Center, and Chief of Psychiatry at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Dr. Sharma joined The Holiner Psychiatric Group in 2009 and as of September 2010 Dr. Sharma is psychiatrist and Medical Director at The Medical Center of McKinney- Wysong Campus. In April of 2012 Dr. Sharma accepted a position to be on faculty at Texas A&M Health Science Center as a Clinical Assistant Professor in The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science. Dr. Sharma’s interests include mood and anxiety disorders in adults, ADHD and disruptive behavior disorders. He strives to optimize academic performance in children who are lagging behind in their potential and innate ability due to a variety of causes, including school refusal. Dr. Sharma has a passion for helping abused and traumatized children reintegrate and readjust to social life and lead normal, productive lives. He has been an advocate for providing the best available treatment and resources for children with mental retardation and Childhood developmental disorders, including Autistic spectrum disorders.
