Target Audience
This program is intended for a community hospital audience including physicians, athletic trainers, and other members of the health care team that provide care to patients who have sustained concussions. Most presentations will target primary care physicians in clinical practice, though athletic trainers, other healthcare providers that work with patients that have sustained a concussion, office managers and administrators may also benefit from awareness and discussion of clinical initiatives and quality management issues.

Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity participants will be able to:
• Provide a history and update on concussion management services and the primary care concussion specialist at University Hospitals.
• Identify the causes and effects of elevated intracranial pressure.
• Identify signs and symptoms that may indicate a more severe traumatic brain injury or other neurological event that requires to be urgently managed.
• Review recent clinically relevant publications associated with concussion management, including subthreshold exercise, factors predicting recovery, and factors predicting return to work.
• Describe concussion signs, symptoms, pathophysiology, and expected outcomes following concussion.
• Review UH Concussion Management Program resources and office based evaluation.
• Outline issues and provide case study examples of return to school, return to sports, and return to work for concussion patients.
• Outline available specialist providers and services for assistance in management of concussion symptoms.
• Describe how psychological factors may contribute to recovery following concussion, including relevant treatments and resources at University Hospitals.
